Machu Picchu offers up to 10 types of tickets . There is also an alternative ticket that includes admission to the Museum:

• 1) Ticket Machu Picchu + Mountain (Route 1A)

  • Group 1: Entrance to the mountain is from 7 am to 8 am / to Machu Picchu is from 6 am to 7 am
  • Group 2: Entrance to the mountain is from 9 am to 10 am / to Machu Picchu is from 8 am to 9 am

• 2) Ticket Machu Picchu Classic Photo or Upper Terrace (Route 1B)

  • Group 1: admission is from 6 a.m.

What discounts does the Machu Picchu ticket offer?

Machu Picchu offers 3 types of special discounts:

• University students: This benefit applies to undergraduate students and those under 25 years of age. Tickets must be purchased with a valid university ID.
• Minors: This benefit applies to persons between 8 and 17 years of age who have a passport or identification document certifying their age.
• CAN Citizens: This benefit applies to citizens of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN): Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Purchase is required with a passport, ID card, or alien identification card.

Foreign citizens with a foreigner’s card from Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, or Bolivia are eligible for a discount through the Andean Community of Nations (CAN).

How much does the Machu Picchu ticket cost and what are its discounts?

Machu Picchu has a different price for each of its different ticket types. In addition, there are special discounts based on age, nationality, and for university students.

How to purchase a ticket to Machu Picchu with a foreigner’s ID?

To purchase a ticket online with a foreigner’s ID card, follow these steps:

• Visit the official Machu Picchu website or a travel agency’s website.
• Choose the type of ticket on the date and time of your preference .
• If available, please complete the form with your personal information.
• If you book through the official website, select the “Foreigner’s Card” option under “Document Type.” If you book through a travel agency, please send a digital copy of your foreigner’s card.
• Make your discounted Machu Picchu ticket payment using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club or PayPal .
• Print the tickets you’ll receive in PDF format in your email. Present them on the day of your visit to Machu Picchu.

What discounts can I get at Machu Picchu with my foreigner’s card?

The foreigner’s or residence card is the document that certifies nationality for the Machu Picchu ticket.

Foreign residents of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, or Bolivia receive a discount on admission to Machu Picchu through the Andean Community . The required document is a valid alien identification card.

What other discounts can I get at Machu Picchu with my foreigner’s card?

• Discount for the local train to Machu Picchu

  The local train is a service offered by Peru Rail for Peruvian citizens. The cost of this service is 10 soles ($3). Foreign residents in Peru can also access this benefit by presenting their alien identification card.

• Discount for the bus to Machu Picchu

  Buses transporting tourists from the town of Aguas Calientes to the entrance to Machu Picchu have a promotional fare for Peruvians. Foreign residents in Peru pay this fare with their Peruvian Alien Identification Card.

Foreign residents of Peru can also travel on the local train to Machu Picchu with their foreigner’s identification card.

Questions and answers about the alien card in Machu Picchu

• 1) Do people with dual nationality get a discount?

  The nationality discount applies to citizens of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia. If you have dual nationality in any of these countries, you are eligible for the discount.

• 2) Do Peruvians abroad with ID get a discount?

  Yes. Peruvians residing abroad who have Peruvian nationality and, therefore, a DNI (National Identity Document) can access discounts on admission to Machu Picchu.

• 3) Does the foreigner’s card qualify for discounts on the Cusco Tourist Ticket?

  No. The Cusco Tourist Ticket is the ticket that allows entry to almost all of the region’s tourist attractions . This type of ticket only offers discounts for minors and university students.

• 4) Do citizens of Colombia, Ecuador or Bolivia have access to the local train?

  No. Unfortunately, the local train service to Machu Picchu is only available to Peruvians or foreigners residing in Peru who have a foreigner’s identification card.

• 5) Is the alien card valid for purchasing the Machu Picchu ticket in Cusco?

  Yes. The foreigner’s card is used to purchase the Machu Picchu ticket in person in Cusco or online. Citizens of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia receive a special discount.

• 6) How to apply for a foreigner’s card in Peru?

  To process a foreigner’s card, you must have approved immigration status in Peru and be present in the country during the process at the Immigration office. The process takes two days.

• 7) Do residents with a foreigner’s card pay the same as foreign tourists?

  No, one of the advantages of the foreigner’s card is that it allows you to access the national tourist rate, which is considerably lower than the rate for foreign tourists.

• 8) What happens if my license is expired?

  You won’t be able to access the discounted rate. The system and staff at checkpoints will verify the validity of your document.

• 9) Can I use my foreigner’s card to get discounts at other tourist sites in Cusco?

  Yes, many tourist attractions offer special rates for residents. A foreigner’s card can also be useful for purchasing a Cusco tourist ticket at a better price.

• 10) Can I enter with my ID if I am a foreign student?

  If, in addition to being a resident, you have a valid university ID, you can access a special student rate.
