Is there any discount on admission?

There are special discounts on the Machu Picchu ticket price for undergraduate university students (under 25 years old) and children (3 to 17 years old).

  • University students – must make their reservation by sending a digital copy of their current university ID along with their national identity document (DNI).
  • Children (3 to 17 years old) – access the discount by making a reservation and sending a digital copy of their ID that proves the minor’s age.
  • Children under 3 years old enter free with proof of age. Admission is subject to an adult’s parent or guardian.

Where can Peruvians buy Machu Picchu tickets?

There are 3 ways for Peruvians to get admission to Machu Picchu:

And where to buy train tickets?

Unlike foreigners, Peruvians benefit from the local train to Machu Picchu . This service is affordable (24 soles, round trip).

Reservations cannot be made online, but in person. To do so, Peruvian tourists must visit authorized ticket sales locations a few days before their visit to the Wonder of the World.

What is the local train for Peruvians?

The local train is a Peru Rail service exclusively for Cusco residents who travel daily to Machu Picchu and the surrounding area. Peruvian tourists can use this non-tourist service for a fee of 12 soles one way and another 12 soles return. Tickets must be purchased in person (five to seven days in advance) in Cusco. Foreign tourists cannot access this train and must purchase a tourist train ticket (approximately $50).

  • Wanchaq Station: Av. Pachacutec s/n, Wanchaq District, Cusco.

The Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu Mountain or Wayna Picchu (Route 3A) ticket includes a visit to the mountain . This ticket also includes a tour of the Machu Picchu archaeological remains. Peruvians receive a discount on the regular ticket price.

  • Machu Picchu Mountain – If you can’t get tickets to Huayna Picchu, your best option is to book a ticket to Machu Picchu Mountain. The climb to the top of this peak is just as spectacular as Huayna Picchu.
  • Machu Picchu Museum – The Manuel Chávez Ballón Site Museum exhibits ceramic, stone, and bone remains found at the archaeological site. Admission to the Machu Picchu Museum in the afternoons is free for everyone!
