New schedules to enter Huayna Picchu

  • Permanence in Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu: from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m..

Group 2:

  • Entrance to Machu Picchu: from 6 am
  • Entrance to Huayna Picchu: from 10 am to 11 am
  • Permanence in Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu: from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The entrance to Huayna Picchu in 2 groups is no longer valid. The new schedules establish the entry in 3 different schedules (Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3).


What is the new entry schedule for Huayna Picchu?

The new entrance schedule to Huayna Picchu from 2019 onwards is divided into 3 different groups:

Group 1:

  • Entrance to Machu Picchu: from 6 am
  • Entrance to Huayna Picchu: from 7 am to 8 am
  • Permanence in Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu: 6 hours from the entrance of the tourist.

Group 2:

  • Entrance to Machu Picchu: from 7 a.m.
  • Entrance to Huayna Picchu: from 7 am to 8 am
  • Permanence in Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu: 6 hours from the entrance of the tourist.

Group 3:

  • Entrance to Machu Picchu: from 8 a.m.
  • Entrance to Huayna Picchu: from 10.30 am to 11.30 am
  • Permanence in Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu: 6 hours from the entrance of the tourist.

How long to stay in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu?

  • The new 2019 schedules allow a maximum time of stay in Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu for 6 hours from the time of entry.
  • Tourists who enter Group 1 and Group 2; They can stay a maximum of 7 hours if they tour the Temple of the Moon on Waynapicchu mountain.
  • In any of the 3 income groups, they will not be able to visit the Huayna Picchu if they make their entrance to the mountain at the established time.

For Group 3 tourists:

  • Tourists who enter Huayna Picchu in Group 3 (from 10.30 am to 11.30 am) can remain in Waynapicchu until 3 hours after their entry.
  • Visitors of this group can not visit the Temple of the Moon.

How to visit the Huayna Picchu?

  • The only way to visit the Waynapicchu mountain is to buy the Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu entrance online.
  • Due to the high demand for tickets, it is recommended to book the ticket 3 or 4 months in advance.
  • When making the purchase of the ticket, the visitor must choose between one of the 3 options of schedules to choose (Group 1, Group 2 or Group 3).
