How is the itinerary?

The tour begins with the pick up of the tourist at his hotel in Cusco. Then you travel by tourist transport to the Abra Málaga, at 4,200 meters above sea level. From there the descent is made by bicycle to the jungle of Cusco. Canoeing is practiced in the town of Santa María. The second day you walk to the town of Santa Teresa where you visit the thermal baths of Cocalmayo. The third day, after practicing the zip line, you walk to Aguas Calientes. 1 DAY 1: Cusco – Abra Málaga – Santa María

  1. The tour begins at around 6 am with the pick up of the tourist from the door of his hotel in the historic center of Cusco.
  2. Then, aboard a tourist minivan, you will travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In Ollantaytambo there is a stop to make last-minute purchases and use the restrooms.
  3. On board the minivan we will go up the mountains until we reach Abra Málaga, located at 4,200 meters above sea level. This place offers incredible panoramic views.
  4. After adequate preparation and, together with the professional guide, we will descend on board our bicycles. The route of almost 2 hours we arrive at the Inca site of Huamanmarca, which we will visit with our professional guide.
  5. After having lunch in a tourist restaurant we will go canoeing in the waters of the white river. This adventure sport also has all the necessary safety equipment.
  6. Finally we will arrive at the town of Santa María where, after dinner in a tourist restaurant, we will spend the night in a local tourist hotel.

2 DAY 2: Santa Maria – Cocalmayo – Santa Teresa

  1. The second day begins at around 6 in the morning with a delicious breakfast at the tourist restaurant in Santa María.
  2. Then we take the walk through green mountainous landscapes typical of the jungle of Cusco. We will travel a section of the Inca Trail (qhapac ñan) that connected Machu Picchu with the Lost City of Vilcabamba.
  3. After a hard but pleasant walk we stop in the town of Quellomayo to have lunch in a local tourist restaurant.
  4. Then we do another walk of approximately 3 hours. We will follow the course of the Vilcanota River until we arrive at the Cocalmayo thermal baths where we will enjoy a pleasant afternoon in the best thermal baths in Cusco.
  5. After the pleasant rest we will continue the walk in the direction of the town of Santa Teresa. There, after dinner in a tourist restaurant, we will spend the night in a tourist hotel.

3 DAY 3: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes

  1. We will wake up around 6 in the morning to enjoy a delicious breakfast at the restaurant in the town of Santa Teresa.
  2. Then we will visit a recreational center where we will practice zip-lining with the appropriate equipment and preparation. There we will observe coffee plantations and fruit trees characteristic of the place.
  3. Then we will continue with the walk in the direction of the Hydroelectric station. There, in the afternoon, we will enjoy lunch at a local tourist restaurant.
  4. After lunch we will do the famous hike from Hidroeléctrica to Aguas Calientes. The route is only 2 hours but it is surrounded by green mountains that are the prelude to Machu Picchu.
  5. At dusk we will arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes, also called Machupicchu town due to its proximity to the Inca citadel. There we will go to our tourist hotel for a good shower and a well-deserved rest.
  6. Later we will have dinner in a tourist restaurant. With free time we can tour the town, a very touristy place. We will also have the option (not included in the tour) to relax in the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes.

4 DAY 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Cusco

  1. We will get up at around 4:30 in the morning to enjoy a nutritious breakfast at the tourist hotel.
  2. Then we will board the Consettur bus that in just 30 minutes will take us to Machu Picchu (optional 2-hour free hike).
  3. In Machu Picchu we will visit the archaeological site with our tour guide. The tour includes a visit to the main Inca constructions such as: the Main Temple, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock, the Water Mirrors, the Temple of the Condor, etc. We will also have free time to take the classic postcard photo.
  4. At the time indicated by the tour guide, we will return by Consettur bus (30 minutes of travel) to the town of Aguas Calientes. If you booked the buffet lunch at the luxurious Tinkuy restaurant, you will have to stay next to Machu Picchu (where the restaurant is located) and then return by bus to Aguas Calientes.
  5. In Aguas Calientes we will have free time to have lunch on our own. We can also visit the artisan market of the place (to make last minute purchases).

5 Return to Cusco

  1. At the time indicated by the tour guide we will go to the Aguas Calientes train station (arrive 30 minutes before departure time).
  2. On board the Expedition tourist train (optional Vistadome train service for an extra payment); We will return to the town of Ollantaytambo.
  3. Finally, a Peru Rail tourist bus (Bimodal service) will take us from Ollantaytambo to the city of Cusco. There a tourist transport will take us to our hotel where the tour ends at around 9 pm.
