How is the itinerary?

The tour begins with the pick up of the tourist at the door of his hotel in the city of Cusco. Then you travel by minivan to the town of Lares where you have to relax in the thermal baths of the place. That first day, in the afternoon, the walk to the town of Wacahuasi takes place. The second day the highest point is reached. Then we descend to the Yanahuara camp. The third day you walk a short stretch and then travel by bus and train to the town of Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes, respectively. The last day is dedicated to visiting Machu Picchu.

1 DAY 1: Cusco – Lares – Wacahuasi

  1. One day before the tour, the tour guide will meet the tourists in the lobby of one of the tourist hotels in Cusco.
  2. On the day of the tour, the pick-up is at the door of the tourist's hotel between 4.30 and 5 in the morning.
  3. After the pick up, aboard a tourist minivan, we will travel to the town of Lares. Before we will make a stop in the town of Calca, to rest from the trip and do last-minute shopping.
  4. In Lares we will relax in the thermal baths of the place, surrounded by a beautiful mountainous landscape. Then we will enjoy lunch with the whole group.
  5. Finally, we will get ready to start the walk. That day we will walk for 4 hours uphill until we reach the Huacawasi camp, at about 3,600 meters above sea level.
  6. Wacahuasi is famous for its textile centers and for llamas and alpacas herding. There, after a dinner prepared by our chefs, we will spend the night in our camps prepared to withstand the cold.

2 DAY 2: Wacahuasi – Auroray Cocha – Yanahuara

  1. At dawn we will wake up with a hot cup of tea and a nutritious breakfast (with a vegetarian option on request).
  2. Then we will resume the walk until we reach the top of the Wacahuasi mountain. There we will get one of the best panoramic views of our adventure.
  3. Then we will descend for approximately 1 hour until we reach the town of Auroray Cocha. There our chef will wait for us with the delicious lunch of the day.
  4. After lunch we will continue the walk downhill until we reach the Yanahuara camp, located at 2,963 meters above sea level.
  5. In Yanahuara we will enjoy a pleasant dinner with our entire team. There, in addition, we will spend our last night of camping under the stars.

3 DAY 3: Yanahuara – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

  1. On the third day we will get up at around 6:30 in the morning with a good cup of hot tea and a delicious breakfast.
  2. Next we will take a short walk downhill until we reach the main highway in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
  3. There a tourist transport will wait for us to transfer us to the town of Ollantaytambo. This trip takes only 30 minutes.
  4. In the famous town of Ollantaytambo we will enjoy lunch in a tourist restaurant. We will also have time to enjoy the historic streets of the town, its market and, optionally (not included in the tour), the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo.
  5. At the time indicated by the tour guide, we will board the Expedition tourist train to travel from Ollantaytambo to the town of Aguas Calientes.
  6. In Aguas Calientes an assistant will transfer us to our tourist hotel. After settling in, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at a local tourist restaurant.
  7. Then we will have free time to walk around the town of Aguas Calientes. Finally we will spend the night in our tourist hotel.

4 DAY 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

  1. On the last day we will get up at around 6 in the morning to enjoy a nutritious American-style breakfast at the tourist hotel.
  2. After breakfast we will board the Consettur bus that in just 30 minutes will take us uphill to the entrance gate of Machu Picchu.
  3. In Machu Picchu we will tour the archaeological site with our professional tour guide. The tour follows the classic circuit that includes a visit to the most famous temples and venues such as: the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Intihuatana, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, the Mirrors of Water and more. We will also have free time to take the classic postcard photo of Machu Picchu (in the Casa del Guardian sector).
  4. At the time indicated by the tour guide, we will return by Consettur bus (30 minutes of travel) to the town of Aguas Calientes. Optionally, tourists who reserved their buffet lunch at the Tinkuy restaurant, will have lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge hotel restaurant, next to Machu Picchu.
  5. In Aguas Calientes we will have free time to have lunch on our own (not included in the tour) and stroll through the picturesque streets of the town.

5 Return to Cusco

  1. Finally, at the time indicated by our tour guide, we will board the Expedition tourist train (optional Vistadome service for an extra payment) that will take us to Ollantaytambo.
  2. Then, aboard the 'Bimodal' bus included in the train ticket, we will travel to the Wanchaq station in the city of Cusco.
  3. The tour ends with the transfer from the train station to the tourist's hotel at around 9 pm.

The camping equipment included in the Lares trek

The tour includes the basic camping equipment for the trek: tents, camping mattress and canvas bag. Does not include sleeping bag or trek poles. The sleeping bag is a necessary personal item that the tourist must carry with them. The tour also includes transfer of utensils with muleteers and horses.
