This is the itinerary
The South Valley is south of the city of Cusco. We headed to that direction in the morning to visit the archaeological complex of Tipón. Then, we will continue the route to the archaeological site of Piquillacta, one of the best-preserved citadels of the Wari (pre-Inca) culture in Peru. We will follow the road to the church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas. Finally we will return to Cusco.
1 Pick up and visit Tipón and Pikillacta
- We pick you up at 8.30 am at the door of your hotel in our tourist transport. Then we head south of Cusco, in the direction of the archaeological site of Tipón.
- In Tipón we will visit some of the best preserved and least known Inca constructions in Peru. Tipón is famous for its water sources and beautiful landscapes.
- Next we will go to Piquillacta, where we will visit the Wari archaeological site, famous for its high walls and immense streets. The tour will be, as always, in the company of a professional tour guide.
2 Visit to the church of Andahuaylillas
- Before leaving Piquillacta we can visit the famous Rumicolca, a pyramid-shaped Inca construction that is also known as 'The door to the South Valley of Cusco'.
- We continue the tour, visiting the traditional town of Andahuaylillas. There we will visit the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, one of the colonial jewels in Cusco. Due to the beauty of its canvases, murals and its baroque interior decoration, This temple is known as the 'Sistine Chapel of America'.
5 Return to Cusco
- We will end the tour returning with the tourist transport to the city of Cusco at around 2:30 pm.
- During the return trip, if time is sufficient, we will be able to see the beautiful landscapes of the South Valley of Cusco such as the Huacarpay lagoon.
